Public Funiculars, Elevators and Aerial Tramways
This section is intended to include non-intramural systems that
connect two distinct locations and were at least originally built as
general public transit services (not as tourist attractions). It does
not include intramural aerial tramways at ski resorts etc.
San Francisco's cable cars are
street railways and are therefore listed under light rail systems.
