Streetcar Postcards

During the heyday of the picture postcard, streetcars appeared in many urban street scenes. Some transit facilities were considered noteworthy enough to merit use as subjects in themselves. Here's a more or less random sample, based on what I've found in postcard boxes at stamp shows. I tend to favor Ohio (my home state) and the Carolinas.

  • [New] Cherrelyn Horse Car. These two postcards are obviously based on the same black-and-white photograph, but were colored differently. Also, the clutter on the ground has been cleaned up on one card. The horse pulled the car uphill to the outer terminal, then rode on the end platform as the car coasted back downhill!
