Charlotte Trolley:
South End Reconstruction

Description

During the summer of 2001, the Charlotte Trolley's route from Atherton Mill to I-277 was rebuilt with welded rail and concrete ties, replacing the original Norfolk Southern freight track. Construction continued in 2002 with a new passing siding and installation of overhead wire. The trolley used this rebuilt route from 2002 until 2006, when service was suspended and the route was further rebuilt for the LYNX Blue Line light rail.
