ENCOURAGE STUDENTS to improve as writers at the Writing Center. HOURS 8 AM-3 PM MON-FRI 7-9 PM SUN-TH

• WRITE the Writing Center into your syllabi and assignment sheets. Include our phone (833-7083) and location (Neville 206). To reserve time for an individual writing conference, students may call, sign our appointment book, or just walk in when a tutor is available.
  
• INFORM your students that tutors consult with writers at any point in the writing process: brainstorming about a topic, organizing ideas, integrating and citing sources, or working on recognizing and learning how to correct patterns of error.
  
• EMPHASIZE that the Writing Center is for writers from any class at any ability level. Talking about a paper and revising is part of the writing process of most experienced writers.
  
• MENTION the Writing Center in comments on papers or in conferences: "Take your draft to the Writing Center to work on integrating sources."
  
• ANNOUNCE to the entire class that you recommend Writing Center conferences. Students need to know they have your support for using the Writing Center.
  
• OFFER an extended deadline to students who participate in a writing conference or a few bonus points on the paper.
  
• ADD writing advice for your classes to the online Guides to Writing at Presbyterian College. E-mail a document or a link to your Web pages to Jill Frey: jmfrey@presby.edu
  
• SEND us copies of your assignment sheets. We keep them in notebooks for tutors to use in conferences.
  
• RECOMMEND students to enroll in the Writing Tutor Practicum. Look for students who are effective writers and also work well with others.
