Provost Rob Holyer, stressing the importance of writing in a college education, chaired the organizational meeting of the Writing Center Advisory Committee on March 8, 2007. He shared the purpose for the committee:

• Advise the Coordinator about the functioning of the Writing Center. 
  
  
• Encourage good student writers to apply to be writing tutors.
  
  
• Advise the Coordinator about programs or workshops that would help faculty be more effective in helping students become better writers.
  
  
• Discuss with faculty colleagues on an informal basis how we might collectively improve student writing.

Relate your concerns and suggestions about writing to any member of the committee: Jerry Alexander, Alicia Askew, Jill Frey, Ed Gouge, Julie Meadows, Mike Nelson, Don Raber, Lynne Simpson, and Jim Wetzel.
