Presbyterian College's Fraternity Rush was Oct 30-Nov 11. We extended 24 bids. Twenty-Two Freshmen guys ran down the stairs on Accept Day, Friday, Nov 11. The new class seems to be a great addition to the fraternity. Over the next few months, they will learn the history of the fraternity and the meaning of brotherhood.
We're sponsoring a trip to Mississippi, Dec. 13-20. The trip is open to all students. We're hoping to see between fifty and two hundred students accompany us to D'Iberville, Mississippi. For more information contact Rich Porter (rporter@presby.edu) or Thomas Camp (tcamp@presby.edu).
Our Homecoming weekend, Oct. 21-23, was a tremendous success. We would like to thank all the alumni and parents present. The weekend’s highlights included a victory over Mars Hill, an enjoyable tailgate, performances by one band Friday evening and two Saturday, and grilling burgers as part of our “Burgers for Blood Sugar” program to support juvenile diabetes research. The weekend also featured the crowning of our new sweetheart, Trish Sosnowski.
This year marks the beginning of many new traditions for Theta Chi, and the Theta Chi Parents club is one of them. In order to keep the parents in touch with the efforts of the fraternity, we plan to send a newsletter each semester along with tokens of appreciation. Weston Nunn heads up the creation of this club. Check the site in the next few days for updates and an application.
Flint Huff organized a concession stand for the Christain Music festival on 10/15. All procedes went to Juvenile Diabetes Research. The event was very successful.
Zeta Tau Alpha and Theta Chi will be placing Pink Flamingos in the yards of professors. Once the professors donate $10 to ZTA's philanthropy (Breast Cancer Education and Awareness), we will move the flamingoes to another professor's yard of their choice.
Alpha Delta Pi and Theta Chi have partnered up to earn money for ADPi's Philanthropy the Ronald McDonald House. Through placing a few decorated boxes around and manually collecting the tabs, Theta Chi will increase their collection of tabs. Other fraternities have followed our example and partnered up with ADPi as well.
