Opportunities for Giving to the Foundation

There are numerous ways in which individuals and Kiwanis Clubs can contribute to the Foundation.  These include, but are not limited to, the following:
The CDKF 1200 Founders Circle and Founders Honor Circle
These awards, initiated in the summer of 2004, are the highest awards to be recognized by the Carolinas District Kiwanis Foundation. Their purpose is to increase the Foundation Endowment Fund by more than one million dollars over the next three years. The goal is to secure 1200 Kiwanians in the District to pledge $1,200 to become members. The Foundation will develop a payment plan that best meets any Kiwanian's budget. The endowment gift is 100% tax deductible. Here's more about the CDKF Founders Circle...
The Carl B. Hyatt Fellowship
The Carl B. Hyatt Fellowship was created to honor the life and memory of one the the Carolinas District's most outstanding Kiwanians.  The donor or a person the donor may choose will receive a desk plaque, medallion, lapel pin, and special recognition at a District event. The Carl B. Hyatt Fellowship requires a donation of $1,000. Here's more about the Hyatt Fellowship...

The Legacy Society
The newest opportunity for leaving a lasting gift that will support the charitable work of the Carolinas District of Kiwanis International is The Legacy Society. Confirmation of a bequest or trust of at least $5,000 is required for the Society designation. Smaller bequests will, of course, be welcomed. Gifts may be made in the following ways:
  • Specific Bequest- Remaining assets such as cash or securities may be designated.
  • Residuary Bequest- by designating a percentage or the remainder of your estate after other obligations have been met.
  • Contingent Bequest- Property is distributed to the Foundation when the named beneficiary is deceased.
  • Charitable Remainder Trust- This trust allows donation of assets while retaining a flow of income for the life or lives of the beneficiaries. If you own highly appreciated assets, (i.e., securities, property, art, or collectibles), and donate it through a Charitable Remainder Trust, the trustee can sell the asset without the capital gains tax and purchase an investment that provides a source to you for up to twenty years. After this time the Foundation receives the value of the remainder interest in the Trust.

The Life Fellow Award
This award requires a gift of $150 and it may honor any Kiwanian or non-Kiwanian. It is accompanied by a plaque and special recognition.
Tributes & Memorials
Tributes to Kiwanians or friends, recognizing their special accomplishments, or Memorials to those deceased may be made in any amount. An acknowledgement will be sent to a person designated by the donor.
Other Ways to Give
Donations may be made to the Foundation via an annual individual giving program.  Four levels of support are recognized and are cumulative from year to year:
Friend of the Foundation $1 - $29
Contributor $30-$49
Patron $50-$99
Benefactor $100-$150
