Atlanta, Georgia: MARTA South Line

Pictures

[picture] Garnett is the first station south of Five Points (where the East/West and North/South lines meet). It is located where the South Line emerges from the side of a hill, so the north end of the platform is underground, and the south end is elevated. Here is an exterior view of the south end. (March 1998)

[picture] A view of the mezzanine level of the Garnett station, looking north. It extends the entire length of the station. The north end opens directly out onto ground level, and the south end is high above the ground (as can be seen in the previous picture). (March 1998)

[picture] Between East Point and College Park, the line runs at ground level for a short distance alongside Main Street, with an old residential neighborhood on one side. The track in the foreground is a Norfolk Southern freight line. (June 2003)

[picture] A northbound train arrives at College Park, in a view from the station mezzanine. The elevated tracks branching off in the center lead to a storage yard. (June 2003)

[picture] The South Line ends at the Airport station, in the main terminal of Hartsfield International Airport. This is an exterior view from street level, in front of the baggage-claim entrance. (March 1998)
